Notarization
Power of Attorney
Also called: POA
A document authorizing one person to act on another’s behalf — often requiring notarization.
What is a power of attorney?
A power of attorney lets a principal appoint an agent to make decisions or sign documents for them, whether financial, medical, or for a specific transaction like a real-estate closing. Durable powers survive the principal’s incapacity.
Most powers of attorney must be notarized, and those used in real-estate transactions are frequently recorded so title and county officials will honor the agent’s authority.
Jurably can notarize a power of attorney online or in person, and record it where needed.
