Notarization
Acknowledgment
Also called: Notarial Acknowledgment
A notarial act confirming that a signer willingly executed a document.
What is a acknowledgment?
In an acknowledgment, the signer appears before the notary and confirms that they signed the document freely for the purposes stated. Unlike a jurat, no oath is taken and the signer does not swear to the truth of the contents — they simply acknowledge the signature.
Most recordable real-estate instruments — deeds, memoranda, and releases — require an acknowledgment before a county recorder will accept them. The notary’s certificate makes the document eligible for recording.
Jurably arranges the correct notarial act for your document and then records it.
