Notarization
Notarize an Affidavit
An affidavit is a sworn written statement — it must be notarized with a jurat (an oath).
An affidavit is a written statement of facts you swear are true. Because it is sworn, notarizing it requires a jurat: you sign in the notary’s presence and take an oath, and the notary certifies “subscribed and sworn to before me.” That is different from an acknowledgment, which involves no oath.
Jurably notarizes affidavits online or in person. Sworn certificates — like the certificate of mailing that accompanies a memorandum of contract — are affidavits too, which is why our filing service handles them end to end.
