Do you need to notarize a car title in Maryland?
It depends.

How to notarize a vehicle title
- Leave the title unsigned. A notary must watch you sign — signing beforehand can void the notarization and, in some states, the transfer.
- Bring valid photo ID. A driver’s license, state ID, or passport for every signer.
- Get every required signer together. If your state requires the buyer’s signature too, both parties appear — in person or on the same video session.
- Sign in front of the notary, who verifies identity, witnesses the signatures, and applies the seal.
- Submit to the DMV. File the notarized title (and any bill of sale) with your state’s title agency to complete the transfer.
